Origin of Tabla

There are many arguments on the first origin of tabla.some experts say that table was invented by Sufi poet amir khusro in the 13th century.But most people agree the origin of tabla to be in between the 1600s to 1700s century.

             Total credit cannot be given to any single person. Tabla kept on changing its form many times under the influence of different cultures.The origin of the table was influenced by Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Indian cultures.

What is Tabla? 

The Tabla is a percussion instrument that originates from the Indian subcontinent. It is a barrel-shaped drum.The tabla is played in pairs.It is used in classical Indian music and also in popular music styles such as Bollywood.

• The two separate drums are called Dayan and Bayan, respectively. Dayan is the one on the right side and is small compared to the left one, which is Bayan.Dayan creates high notes, and Bayan makes low bass sounds.
• Dayan is usually on the expensive side because it is made of wood rather than Bayan, made up of copper. If your budget is tighter, go for the aluminium ones.
